Foxtel’s sports streaming platform to utilise new AI-driven highlights capability.
US media production company Thuuz Sports has partnered with Kayo Sports, the Australian sports streaming service owned by pay-TV operator Foxtel, to integrate automated highlights into the over-the-top (OTT) platform.
The artificial intelligence (AI) driven technology, records metadata to measure fan engagement and sentiment around individual sporting events to tailor highlights packages for the use of rights owners and media partners.
Thuuz’s partnership with Kayo marks the California-based company’s first venture into Australia, and also adds cricket and rugby to its production portfolio, which has previously consisted primarily of American sport.
“They [Kayo] needed something quite specific and we’re able to service that,” Wayne Sieve, the executive vice-president of Thuuz, told Sportcal.
